.This
is an example of a 19th century English shotshell reloader
which will reload 100 shells at a time. This loader measures
approximately 6 x 11 x 15 inches. The top portion slides about
1 inch so that after you dropped the powder or whatever in the
holes, it would fall into the empty shell casings. It weighs about 10 - 15 pounds. The Erskine was
invented in 1864 by James Erskine in Newton Stewart
(Wigtownshire, Scotland). Its was made in mahogany. They
claimed to make 100 cartridges in 4 minutes, but today nobody
knows how they got that speed. I have heard stories they were used in
gun shops in
England up till WW2. Valued by
collectors at about $800.00 to $1200.00
