...Wooden crates were used by most ammunition companies to deliver their shells to customers for decades. They contained twenty boxes. In 1951 Remington switched to cardboard box's, still holding 20 box's of shells. In 1971 they switched to 10 box cardboard flats that are still in use today. They also came out with 8 1/2 shot at the same time. Richard Baldwin, the current director of the ATA Hall of Fame was the mastermind at Remington for the 10 box flats and the 8 1/2 size shot.
